My passion for golf began at a young age at my local course, Bowood Park in Cornwall. Growing up in a golfing family, the course became the heart of our gatherings, where we played together two to three times a week—often followed by a few too many at the 19th hole. From the age of four, my father would take me around six holes at a time, igniting a love for the game that would shape my future.
By nine, I was fully hooked, securing my first handicap of 28, and at 11, I entered my first medal round, carding a 128 over 18 holes. As my game and body developed through my teenage years, so did my dedication. I reached a single-figure handicap by 14 and shot my first under-par round just before my 16th birthday. Competing regularly in Cornish junior tournaments, I soon earned a place representing Cornwall—an honor that introduced me to the county’s best players, including PGA Tour winner Harry Hall.
My debut match for Cornwall was a defining moment—a high-stakes singles duel against Devon at Staddon Heights. With a crowd gathered, I faced a pressure-packed putt on the 18th green to secure victory. I made the putt, marking the beginning of an unforgettable county career. Playing for Cornwall taught me invaluable lessons in teamwork, discipline, and resilience—skills that have carried into both my professional life and continued golfing journey.
My amateur career peaked in its final season, with an undefeated run in county golf, victories in both the Cornwall U18 and U21 Championships, and ten club trophies at Bowood, all while captaining the Cornish Junior Squad in my final match. I closed my junior career with a +1 handicap, ready for the next chapter.
At 18, life took a different turn as work became my priority. I managed the bar and restaurant at Bowood Park for several years before embarking on a new challenge—running my very own bar and restaurant. At just 21, I dove headfirst into the hospitality industry, and my venue quickly became one of North Cornwall’s most recognized eateries.
Despite the demands of business ownership, golf remained a constant. Though I played fewer competitive events, I maintained my passion for the game, eventually reaching a +3 handicap in 2022. Some of my best rounds came during this period, including a 14-under-par 60 from the red tees in a charity event at Bowood. Golf was my escape, offering a sanctuary from the pressures of running a business.
However, by 2024, financial challenges forced me to reflect on my path. I found myself questioning: What is my true passion? What do I want to do next? The answer was clear—golf. It had shaped every opportunity in my life, from friendships to business ventures, teaching me discipline, resilience, and the art of continuous improvement.
With a renewed purpose, I committed myself fully to the world of golf—not just to play, but to coach, inspire, and share the invaluable experiences the sport has given me. Hobbs Golf was born from this passion, with the goal of helping others develop their skills, enjoy the game, and experience all that golf has to offer.

Golf , in my opinion has been greatly overcomplicated, from the way it it taught, the way we play, the attitude of golf establishments and the players & people that are involved in the sport. I think the enjoyment of this most wonderful game is being overshadowed by all of this.
I set out to look at golf from a different angle, keep it simple and just enjoy it. this will be the priority when teaching for me. My lessons and teachings will be based upon making simple, easy to understand adjustments in small bite sized chunks. , often the answers lie in different areas of your game not just the swing itself.
Hobbs Golf is more than just a coaching brand, we want to offer so much more than and encapsulate a lifestyle by giving you the opportunity to experience what every golfer dreams of. Tuition packages, holidays, exclusive fashion lines & fantastic competition prizes, all awaits you here.
